No joke, I break nails doing the stupidest things. I have kept my arm flailing to a minimum lately and have gone unharmed for months. The other day, however, I was so excited to buy nail polish that I flailed right into a shopping cart ... blammo! Please, can we turn back time?! A girl can dream. In reality though, I saved the nail. I have posted on this before, way back ... part I, II, III and IV, but this time I made a video!
Check them out ....
Intro ...
Part I
Part II
Yay. How do you fix your nail boo boo's?
Nails, Life, and more nails. Not so much a nail polish obsession, but more of a nail care obsession.

Good God Loodie put your knives away
Can you believe a quesadilla was almost the death of my thumb!
Okay that's a little extreme. That knife in the background was actually the near culprit.
OH the horror. I will spare you the immediate blood and gore, but HOLY CRAP. OUCH.
The quesadilla was delicious though.
So I'm chopping jalapenos right. Ya know, having a good time, thinking about how succulent the quesadilla will be. Then BAM!
Can we just take a moment of silence please.
IT'S SO FAR DOWN!!
Waaaaaaaa
NOT COOL.
Don't worry, there is a happy ending.
Lucky for me life is not like "Death Becomes Her"
Not only do nails grow, but thank goodness for Shellac.
I fix my nail boo boo's with soak of nail gels.
You can find that tutorial here.
The end result with Shellac.
Protected ... and SHINY :D
This is actually a week later, so the cut has healed. :)
Gosh this regrowth is gonna take awhile.
But in the mean time I spent my days complaining to Olivia who coincidentally had a traumatic paper cut.
Dude, two months later it finally grew out.
YAY!!

Sorry for the large gap, this picture is from a wear test.

Shit bitch mother fucker
yea so I broke a nail.
UGH. This weekend we had to put in a wooden floor in our dumb ass condo for the new tenant. I thought I avoided the whole nail breaking scenario by skipping participation in the carpet removal step. WRONG!
I wore Color Clubs Wild at Heart ... one of my favorites!
Mmmmm purple holo :D
Granted my nails were getting pretty long, so a slight trim would have been a smart idea.
However, as always, taking down length hurts ... my ego.
But you know what hurts more? Ripping a nail off past the quick. F-ing OUCH. Okay so this shit really hurt. Do you see how low that skank ripped off. As always I went into panic mode and shortened the rest before I took this picture.
So what the hell was I doing? I was removing a nail from cement using a crow bar.
Oh and the color on my pinky doesn't match the rest. That's another story for another time.
I guess you'll be seeing a lot of swatches from the left hand from now on.
Isn't this iphone pic really good quality?
So I did end up shortening only the left hand a bit. The lengths of the nails are not all even, but I just couldn't take them down any further.

2-3 weeks couldn't pass fast enough, but that ring finger does look kinda cute.

Boozing Breaks Nails
Ahhh yes as promised another adventure from happy hour ...
This story involves less story and more arm flailing. So if you like to see carnageread on browse the pictures.
That very nice Revlon mani you saw in the last post (found here) was viciously ruined weeks ago.
The night started out well and good.
The BEFORE picture.
Sorry for such a crappy pic. Who would have thought this would have been the ONLY before pic.
And the AFTER picture
... the ring finger people, look at the ring finger. I actually didn't realize how uneven I filed them altogether. So in reality maybe it was a sign that I needed to even them up woman!
There was no fixing this one like I normally do with Shellac.
So I grabbed my favorite nail file and went to town.
UGH SO SHORT.
Damn, now the others look weird. They too got a trim.
Darn it I'm back to square one like I was a few weeks back!
*note to self ... less flailing lol

Boozing Breaks Nails
It seems more often than not Happy Hour ends in a ruined mani. Here is an example:
Color Club - Magic Attraction
I love this glitter. Yea I know, I can't believe those words are leaving my mouth, but it has some holo like glitter in there that is definitely worth the pain and extra (and I mean extra) topcoat.
How pretty!
I finally got it smooth after putting on topcoat once a day for 3 days straight.
So all is going well during happy hour, I even got a compliment on the mani :D yay!
On the train ride home however I'm starring off into to space, contimplating how I can swipe the fries from the toddler next to me without her mom noticing, when I glance down and see ....
Okay not too bad. I was bummed, but it's doable till I got home. However, this prompted me to look at the rest of my hands.
WTF. Half my thumb was missing, LOL!
I totally just stuck my thumb in my palm.
Then when I finally get home this happened! LOL
The amusing part was, I found the other half on my carpet. Oh man! bahahaha ... Thank god I was home.
Serendipitously , how ever the pointer finger incident happened, it caused a split that prompted the Nail Fix series (which can be found here.)
I have more stories like this, so stay tuned for the carnage. :D

Collateral Damage
Since last Thursday I have been cooped up under ground in a secret facility playing with x-rays. There was some major damage .... nail damage.
My job requires for me to travel to this one special place every month or so, and it never fails, I always come back lacking sleep and usually a nail. :(
This trip was no exception! So lets take a moment of silence, curse the crappy bathroom door and take a look at the damage:
Before:
This picture was taken about 2 weeks before the incident. The only other recent picture I have is in profile, see below.
In preparation for this trip and what it usually brings, I filed down some nail growth to the following result. This is just days before the incident.
READY..........
Ouch! My ego is hurt more than the finger. I wanted to document the actual break, but I was in panic mode and just wanted to fix it. Normally, I would have fixed this break with a soak off gel, but clearly I am on travel and there was no time for that.
That post can be found here.
And a profile picture below.....
Double Ouch.
Time heals all wounds. Unfortunately, I am scheduled to travel to this God forsaken place again in two more weeks. Great, just in time for the nail to grow back some. uuuuhhhhh!
I think my main problem, besides forcefully shoving my hands in doors, is a lack of flexibility in the nail plate. I need to balance hardness with flexibility. My plan is to not forget my cuticle oil for the next trip.
