Snack Break

I like fruit, how about you?  Raspberries are delicious.  We used to have raspberry bushes when I was growing up and we used to gorge often.  There are all kinds of raspberries, but China Glaze decided to mimic the pink variety ...

China Glaze- Raspberry Festival

In the shade.

It can look really bright pink with more sun.

Or kind of red.

Either way, notice the glass fleck things.

I was in the mood to wear this, but not for long.  I guess I'm just torn about pink/reds with my skin tone.

Does that ever stop you from wearing a color often?

P.S. Be jealous. :D

Dirty Crabs

Eating crabs is a dirty job, but someone has to do it.  This weekend, that lucky lady was me.  Yay for my belly, nay for the mani.  Normally when I participate in this activity it is hell on the nails and hands.  I end up with micro-cuts and acetone has no mercy.  Furthermore, the wetness makes my nails obese.

If you are on the west coast, or in other parts of the world, you are probably looking at this picture and wondering, 'why is she excited about eating muddy crabs?'

The deliciousness on these blue crabs is a seasoning mainly well known in Maryland and the surrounding regions of the U.S.; it's called Old Bay.

Have you ever tried Old Bay?
If you ever get the opportunity ... try eeet!

The crab says hi!

Then I ate him, he was delicious.

It's too bad the first time I get to show you China Glaze - Heart of Africa is with all this muck on my hands.

How is this? Oh woops, still dirty.

I promise to show you Heart of Africa properly in a future post because it is GORGEOUS, not to mention a fantastic fall color!

Do you see the terror?!  My nails are so fat.

I showed my engorged water logged nails once before in this post

Once I cleaned up, the mani was a bit scraggly, but doable ... um except then this happened ...

 Peeka boo, I see you!

Mani ... dead.

What do you think ... save them for later?

The hubbie tried to fit them on his fingers ... ROFL.

I've never had Dungeness crabs so I am super jealous of the Cali girls, BUT blue crabs are delicious and worth all the mess, cuts and a dead mani.

Mama Mia! That's red alright.

Red is classic, but I always feel strange wearing it on my nails.  Maybe because it feels a bit loud or a bit scandalous or maybe because it can stain easily.   Either way I achieved it with this mani ...

Sunlight
China Glaze - Italian Red

I would say this is a warm toned red, but definitely not dominated by orange.  I really like the way it looks against my warm skin tone even though the picture is a bit over exposed and makes my skin look really white.

The formula was a sweet sweet jelly.  I did two coats and loved every minute of it.  Although the pictures show some visible nail line, I
1. don't care and
2. couldn't really see it in real life.

The hubs really liked it, so that's always nice to hear.

Indirect light

Again, every time I wear red I am always reminded of Jennifer from the two fat ladies ... click here ... they make me hungry.

Anyone want spicy garlic wings? ...

I shoved my face full of these last weekend ... mmmmmm

Back to the nails.  OH the stains .... shield your eyes!

Although I did a double coat of base it still stained a bit.   However, this is nothing compared to what Rodeo Fanatic did.  More on that another time.

Do you ever feel like a hooker wearing red?  What is your favorite red?

:P

Good God Loodie put your knives away

Can you believe a quesadilla was almost the death of my thumb!

Okay that's a little extreme.  That knife in the background was actually the near culprit.

OH the horror.  I will spare you the immediate blood and gore, but HOLY CRAP.  OUCH.

The quesadilla was delicious though.

So I'm chopping jalapenos right.  Ya know, having a good time, thinking about how succulent the quesadilla will be.   Then BAM!

Can we just take a moment of silence please.

IT'S SO FAR DOWN!!

Waaaaaaaa

NOT COOL.

Don't worry, there is a happy ending.

Lucky for me life is not like "Death Becomes Her"

Not only do nails grow, but thank goodness for Shellac.

I fix my nail boo boo's with soak of nail gels.

You can find that tutorial here.

The end result with Shellac.

Protected ... and SHINY :D

This is actually a week later, so the cut has healed.  :)

Gosh this regrowth is gonna take awhile.

But in the mean time I spent my days complaining to Olivia who coincidentally had a traumatic paper cut.

Dude, two months later it finally grew out.

YAY!!

China Glaze - Nasty

Sorry for the large gap, this picture is from a wear test.

Eating to Excess

I love Sushi, but darn it when you eat in large volumes like I do it gets EXPENSIVE. What is a big girl to do?

DIY!

Imagine all this for under $100, YEAH!

Not to mention, most sushi place's skimp on the fish.

Ignore the random margarita, my family can not help mixing cultures.

I know sushi is not for everyone, but I am wiping drool as I write this.

The possibilities are endless.

Let's EAT!

I said before that I like to eat, but I have yet to post anything about it. I have things planned in my mind, but these things take time mainly because the pic's are on another computer and I keep forgetting about it.

Over the holiday I went downtown to eat .... all day long. Walk, eat, walk, eat, walk eat, you get the picture. Here is a summary of the deliciousness. I have to preface by saying in the beginning the hunger over took me and I ate before taking pictures, so sorry for the bite marks and crumbs in advance.

Breakfast:
We were originally going to go to a place in Eastern Market. Well, apparently they decided to move and neglected to leave a sign saying they were across the street. Okay, maybe we were dumb for not noticing the place across the street, but we ended up going to a way better place one block down. Their loss.

We went to a place called: le pain quotidien
I got the cheese/fruit spread with a crap load of delicious bread. I've had fresher cheese in my day, but the bread was TO DIE FOR.

I also got some soup. The soup was fresh, made that morning (from what the lady told me), but when it comes to soup, maybe day old soup is better, otherwise it tasted like water. Oh well.

The coffee was bomb diggity; random thought: that word reminds me of Blackstreet and makes me feel old.

My "lover" had french toast.  It was pretty delicious.

Some lady was coughing up a lung for a good part of our meal, that was disturbing, but probably more embarrassing for her since everyone kept looking at her which made her choke on her food further. Weird.
Next stop: Coffee!
We went to a small little coffee shop in (literally) a hole in the wall called: Filter
(it's too bad I didn't take a picture, dang it!)

My lover was a total douche and let the barista order for him.  I got a double espresso.  Cool place, Good coffee.

Lunch:
A Greek place called Zorba's Cafe near Dupont Circle.
I got a kabob dish and tabouli on the side. My lover got a Yero and a salad (obviously Greek). It all came with bread, which after le pain was a pain to eat, so I didn't.

Maybe it was my hungry tummy, but the food was great .... and cheap, usually that combo is hard to find together.

Happy Hour and Dinner:
Both took place at Ten Penh
No pictures of happy hour sorry, but there was lots of beer flowing I assure you. So much so, the boy was even more douche like here and let the waiter order for him; okay, it wasn't the douchee-ness rather the drunkenness.  Crap now that I think of it, we got an appetizer, but the brain cells have been fried and can't think of it ... not even after looking at the menu online, Big ol' Dang!  Anyway, the boy got Sea Bass. He was satisfied, but didn't care for the nuts.

I got the Spice Crusted Tuna with Fried Calamari. It was okay.  Tuna was nice, but had way too much sauce.  Calamari was cooked nicely, but again too much crap-sauce. I could have done without the 3 cups of peanuts either. Thank goodness I was hammered so I could get some joy out of this dish.  I suspect the boy's dish would not have been as good either.
Dessert: MORE ALCOHOL
Okay completely unnecessary, but for once I was not in a chocolate mood, which wouldn't have mattered anyway because they didn't have it.  Instead, we got a plum wine and pear Saki. Funny Disturbing how I remember the alcohol.
We got a nice combo, one was sweet the other sour. Very Yummy.

I would not come here again, unless it was for the beer.

Overall a good day, can't wait to do it again.
