I love sheer whites. I think I have said this probably 347 times on this blog. Here, here, here, here, here, here. So what's another post...
Essie - Marshmallow
I don't remember how many coats this was because this was from a while back. I would venture to say the standard 2-3 coats.
I
do like to dress up my sheer whites on occasion. One of my favorite
KleanColors is Cream Pearl. I have never worn it alone, but do like it
over other colors. It has blue and purple sparkles.
I have shown it over a barbie pink in this post.
Very subtle and pretty.
I also have enjoyed NYX - Spotlight on top.
If you want to see NYX - Spotlight over a dark green check out this video... here. I put it over Nabi - Teal
I have a white cat. She gets jealous of my sheer white obsession.
She screwed up my mani last time I wore a sheer white.
Nails, Life, and more nails. Not so much a nail polish obsession, but more of a nail care obsession.

Ooo colored nail treatments
The 4th hour of the today show the can be really ridiculous entertaining.
Morning boozing ... yes Hoda and Kathie Lee have the market cornered.
The other day I happen to be watching and caught a segment that stated Dermelect was launching a color line. Very interesting. I Googled furiously and came across ...
More fishing and I discovered they are taking color requests for their Spring collection on their facebook. Heck yes!
Dermelect Facebook Page
Voice your opinion. I requested duochromes.
I do hope they take these requests seriously and this is not just a ploy. :-/
In any case, they have one color already out there called "Makeover":
Peptide Infused Concealer and Treatment. Anti-aging Ridge Filler.
You can use it either on its own or as a base coat.
I am testing out the wear, but in the mean time let's look at the color.
This takes me back straight to high school. I wore a color similar to this ... all the time.
Actually, it was a Wet 'n' Wild ... just like this. Like my beloved sheer whites, I went through bottles upon bottles.
Dermelect Makeover Ridge Filler
1 coat
Obviously sheer and my nails are yellow, eh *note to self - take care of that poo poo*
2 coats ... still sheer and I can guarantee it will stay that way.
2 coats vs. 3 coats (left to right)
My nails look less yellow no? Perhaps the blue shimmer counteracts this uglyness.

Fluorescent light:
3 coats
sheer blue shimmer
I am reminded how I love this look. Clean, crisp, simple.
Daylight
3 coats. In real life the blue shimmer is more visible.
First impressions:
As far as color is concerned ... nothing special. It is easily dupe-able, for a much lower price. However, the color is infused with good ingredients, so that does bump up its status slightly. The jury is still out on the rest ... to be continued.
What would you recommend Dermelect include in their new spring line?

Boozing Breaks Nails
Ahhh yes as promised another adventure from happy hour ...
This story involves less story and more arm flailing. So if you like to see carnageread on browse the pictures.
That very nice Revlon mani you saw in the last post (found here) was viciously ruined weeks ago.
The night started out well and good.
The BEFORE picture.
Sorry for such a crappy pic. Who would have thought this would have been the ONLY before pic.
And the AFTER picture
... the ring finger people, look at the ring finger. I actually didn't realize how uneven I filed them altogether. So in reality maybe it was a sign that I needed to even them up woman!
There was no fixing this one like I normally do with Shellac.
So I grabbed my favorite nail file and went to town.
UGH SO SHORT.
Damn, now the others look weird. They too got a trim.
Darn it I'm back to square one like I was a few weeks back!
*note to self ... less flailing lol

Like an old pair of jeans
If you're looking for a sheer white, I will hook you up. I have enough for all of us and I just keep buying them, because darn it, it's my favorite.
Today I will show you Revlon - Sheer Pink (006)
WARNING - Crap load of pictures ahead because I love my nails with the color :p
Ahhhh, life is complete.
If you're looking for that "classy old rich lady" look ... look no further ;)
I can not express to you how much I love this look.
It's neat, put together, and just makes your nails gorgeous!
I feel like this is the sheer white version of OPI's Bubble Bath.
Certain polishes make my ears hurt, this one is quietly understated.
All of the pictures above are with flash. It photographs much more white with flash and the visible nail line (VNL) is much more visible than in normal light.
In real life and in normal lighting Sheer Pink looks just a bit pink, but still white.
This polish is sheer, which can be good or bad, depending on your personal preference. Personally, I love how the VNL peaks through, but it is definitely build-able.
All of these pictures are with 3 coats.
I find Revlon works pretty well with Seche Vite, so even a fourth coat to reach opacity is no biggie.
I really love how just about any length of nail will look like pure hotness with the type of shade.
The formula on this one rocks my socks. I have no problem with streaky-ness or uneveness; it self levels really well. I love Revlon's brushes in general and it makes working near the cuticle a breeze, as well as around my C-curve, which is often difficult with short fat brushes like from Sally Hansen's Complete Salon Manicure line, ewww ugh. Anyway that's off topic.

OPI Bubble Bath
I'm going to take a one post break from the nail fix series to show OPI's Bubble Bath.
I put on a base coat thinking I might want to do a proper "wear test", but we'll see if my attention span doesn't get the best of me.
Base coat: CND Toughen Up
Other hand:
Can you guess which nail has a Shellac fix??
OPI Bubble Bath:
OPI Bubble Bath
2 coats in natural light. This color evens out the nail bed, but basically looks like nothing.
Application was great. It wasn't streaky at all. The polish levels really well as it dries.
2 coats vs. 3 coats
Flash
2 coats
Flash
3 coats
With flash you can start to see the milkyness, but in reality it's still a sheer light pink.
Final Mani:
Base: CND Toughen UP
Color: 3 coats Bubble Bath
Top: Seche Vite
Flash: It's almost reminiscent of a sheer white when flash is involved, but in real light it is not. See next picture for a dose of reality.
Fluorescent light:
This is much closer to reality. Sheer pink with only hints of milkyness. This polish color is like a veil for natural nails. It blurs things and makes it look flawless.
Since I get absolutely NO light in my apartment this is as good as it gets.
* runs to takes Vit. D supplement.

CND - Romantique
After all that dark polish, I needed a break. That Red Velvet (Color Club) was really making me feel Elvira like ...
Pardon the scandalousness, just look at the NAILS, lol.
I decided on Creative Nail Design's (CND) Romantique.
The picture on the left is in direct light, while the picture on the right is slightly out of direct light.
Thumbs!
Base: forget it, I didn't waste my time with this light color and it's a good thing since I messed up the mani seconds after I took pictures, aaaaahhhh, oh well.
Color: CND Romantique x3
Top: Seche Vite
Here is a picture with flash.
Application was easy enough and I didn't have to do any clean up.
The wetness is just quick dry.
The polish was shiny enough, but with three coats and in a rush to get out the door, I put on Seche Vite. Uh, then like said, I messed it up. How you ask? I decided to do my hair. BAD MOVE.
CrAP.

Like mom's homemade *(you fill in the blank)*
Everyone has that certain something that makes them feel warm and fuzzy. And when it comes to nail polish that certain something for me is a nice sheer white cream. To be more specific, my first true love was Sally Hansen's - Pink Whisper Creme. I wore this for years, went through at least 20 bottles, no joke. However, all good things come to an end. Some devil decided to discontinue it and this is all I'm left with.....
And so my search began for a replacement. Naturally, I tried not to stray from Sally and eventually found a color that suited my comfort zone and had great staying power. So, my second "love" was:
Sally Hansen - Sweet Tulip
Picture shows 3 coats
Base Coat: None
Top Coat: No name brand
I will post a wear test soon, but the picture above is from Day 7. Here are a few more with different lightening and a slightly different nail length.
What a great clean color. It suits just about any nail length, from nubbins to talons. I have owned at least 12 bottles of this shade and always buy at least two when I am running low. I have of course collected other brands in this type of color, but am yet to be convinced. I just have not worn the other brands as long. Before I switch I need to make sure its works for me. In my mind that means at least giving a whole bottle worth of wear (if not two).
Included in this picture, from left to right:
OPI - Funny Bunny
Essie - Waltz
Sally Hansen - Sweet Tulip
Revlon - Sheer Pink
I could wear this color for the rest of my life, as long as it looked perfect of course.
