Minty Comparison

Comparison time! A few minty pastel blue/green colors:

China Glaze - For Audrey
Essie - Mint Candy Apple
Elf - Blue Mist
Revlon - Minted
Illamasqa - Nomad

Clearly Illamasqua is the sore thumb. I had to give him extra hugs because he felt so out of place.
I finally bought this baby!!

China Glaze - For Audrey

Sunlight

If only this purchase from China Glaze actually came with something from Tiffany's. *sigh*

Shade

Comparison
Index: China Glaze - For Audrey
Middle: Elf - Blue Mist
Ring: Essie - Mint Candy Apple
Pinky: China Glaze - For Audrey

In terms of color, Elf and Essie seem close, but are different. I guess it depends on how strict you want to be. Elf is muted, Essie is a brighter more true pastel.

The formulas on all of these varied dramatically.

Middle: Elf - Blue Mist
sheer and creamy (4 coats)

Ring: Essie - Mint Candy Apple
opaque and chalky (2 or 3 coats)

Pinky: China Glaze - For Audrey
standard cream (2 coats)

Here they all are.

Pinky: Elf - Blue Mist

Ring: Revlon - Minted
(sheer and creamy 3 coats)

Middle: Illamasqua - Nomad
(standard cream 2 coats)

Pointer: Essie - Mint Candy Apple

Thumb: China Glaze - For Audrey

Illamasqua and Revlon are more green leaning (middle and ring), while the others are more blue leaning.

I think pretty much every company makes a minty blue/green pastel.  Which is your favorite color or formula?

Nothing to see here, just flashing my balls

I've been playing around with Illamasqua's Human Fundamentalism Collection (what a mouth full). Since my last post and video, I have created a few more eye looks. Here are a few pictures, old and new.  If you prefer to see me blab about them I have included a video talking about the products while I flash pictures ... of my balls ... eyeballs.

Click the pictures to enlarge.

The "way too excited to use liquid white eyeliner, so I didn't read the package warning" inspired eye look.

The package clearly states not to put Scribe on your waterline. BUMMER! So, ignore the rule breaking; I need to learn to read first, apply war paint second.

Nails:
Color Club - Mrs. Robinson (click here for another pic)

The "unintentional Tammy Faye Baker" inspired eye look.

The "Effie Trinket" inspired eye look.
More here and in the video (below).

 The "skunk" inspired eye look.

I don't even know. The "I want to have teal eyebrows" inspired look?

Video round up of all the eye looks and products used ... and my DOTS!!:

Effie told me to do it

I saw Hunger Games last night. Armed with the new Illamasqua Fundamental Palette, I now understand Effie Trinket.

The goodies ...

Illamasqua:

Nail Varnish - Nomad
Precision Ink - Scribe
Intense Lipgloss - Fierce
Fundamental Palette

Illamasqua Fundamental Palette:
Liquid Metal - Surge (pewter)
Cream Pigment - Bedaub (mint green)
Powder Shadow - Inception (violet),
Hype (yellow)

It must have been a rough ride to my house because it came sweaty and dirty.

Do you see the crust and beads of sweat? Click to enlarge. :D

This was pre- Hunger Games viewing.

This is my face with foundation.  Otherwise, I have on Fierce on my lips and Scribe on my lash line.  Later, I actually read the packaging for the Precision Ink and it clearly says NOT to put it on the water line. Woops. Great, I hope I don't go blind.

To avoid blindness I put Scribe on my upper eyelid.  This was not easy because I couldn't avoid getting it on my lashes.  To make it look okay I Tammy Faye Baker'd the hell out of my lashes.  I have L'Oreal Hip Kohl Eyeliner - Teal on my water line.

Nomad is sneaking in here a bit.
I did a swatch of Scribe on my hand and just left it on there to see how it would wear.
A couple hours after application, I broke a sweat and took a shower ... not too shabby.

A full 24 hours and another shower later.  Kind of impressive.

 Illamasqua - Nomad

Post Hunger Games: I knew immediately I had to put some color on my eyebrows.

I used Illamasqua Powder Eyeshadow - Inception on my eyebrows and lined my upper eyelids.

I had L'Oreal Kohl eyeliner in Teal holding on for dear life from the night before. I like this the way it is, but I just had to add some black liner.

I put black liquid liner between my lashes (upper and lower) using L'Oreal Telescopic (lower set of pictures).  It's more dramatic, fo' sho'.

Initially when I thought about doing this whole look, I didn't think I would wear it out mainly because of the purple eyebrows.  But it ends up being a subtle pop of color.  Subtle glam, yea!

I also used Inception as a contour, yes, yes I did.

I have just a touch of blush (Maybelline - Pinch o' Pink) and the lips are a light mix of Revlon - Colorburst in Fuchsia (030) and Illamasqua - Fierce.

It's pink purple gorgeousness!

Thoughts so far ... I must play more with the other colors!

I'll get back to nails in no time. I just really love makeup too.

Illamasqua Human Fundamentalism ... Intro

While I play/write about these new goodies, please enjoy the following intro video to a few of the products in the Human Fundamentalism Collection.  As you will notice, my one cat was going bananas while the other one watched ... because that's what frienamies do.

*products were sent to me for review*
The video was shot in HD so feel free click on that option. :D

Also, I would like to apologize for not being able to keep up with and respond to comments and emails.  I find great pleasure in mingling and being silly with you guys, but the volume is getting a bit overwhelming and I just can't keep up. :(  I'm sorry guys.  It makes me sad.  I will try my best to do what I can.

P.S. I love all your cuticles! :D

Hangover Cure

Seeing as how it is the day after St. Patrick's Day you are either nauseated from seeing so much green or ... just plain nauseated.  Out of respect for the latter (and my own laziness) today I present more pictures and less words.  If you are sick of green, see ya next time ...

Nars - Night Porter

BIG BIG thank you to Emilie! Go visit her blog and give her lots of love.  She gives the best chocolate kisses!! ;)

She also has a YouTube channel

What a beauty (her and the polish! :D).  I really favor dark greens and this one is a complete WIN.

I failed to capture the glory.

Every time I wear it the sun hides. :(
I love surprises.  This $1 polish is pretty sweet.  Run do not walk to your nearest dollar store.

Nail Fetish - Storm

Check out my stamp.  I hardly ever do this, mainly because I suck at it.

China Glaze - Four Leaf Clover

China Glaze - Passion in the Pacific.
Blue/Green shimmer.

A decent dupe of Rimmel - Green with Envy that I showed in my last green post.

Comparison:
The Rimmel has a much more obvious duochrome property.

CQ - Green Gem
This CQ is a weak holo with a weak green flash.

Two wrongs (or rather weaknesses) DO make a right, because I actually really like it.
Illamasqua - Kink

The glorious rubber look!

If you want a shiny look, slap on some top coat.

China Glaze - Outta Bounds

Comparison to Rimmel - Camouflage.  I showed that one here.

Quite obvious that Rimmel has a duo quality that Outta Bounds does not.

China Glaze - Watermelon Rind

This one looks better in person.  Unfortunately, it's very sheer so wear some green undies.

China Glaze - Turned Up Turquoise (neon)

It dries matte.

I like it shiny.  Sorry for my crusty cuticles.

Random: From Left to Right ...
Dark Green Franken - (Black + Color Club - Rebel Debutant)
Color Club - Rebel Debutant
China Glaze - Four Leaf Clover
China Glaze - Turned up Turquoise

What was your St. Patrick's Day mani?

Humorous vulgarity ahead

I think we can all agree that Illamasqua is a unique company.  They have a knack for thinking outside the box with pretty much every aspect of their company.  Take a look at any collection they have previously created and I bet money the most common reaction is likely, "wow!"

Part of Illamasqua's charm is their style of product naming, which I find quite entertaining, scandalous, and the perfect breeding ground for vulgar humor ... right up my alley!  The theme and inspiration for "The Theatre of the Nameless" collection seems to be centered around the most illicit of nightlife participants who probably wish to remain anonymous.  However, the polish names in this new collection are so memorable, there is nowhere to hide.

Please put your mind in the gutter so that we may begin ....

I have to start with this one ...

Illamasqua - Taint
2 coats

Holy shiz ... literally ... the best name for this color considering the location of well ... you know ... the perineum. <---click if you want to brush up on some human anatomy

The formula and brush were very nice for me.

The finish on all of these polishes is a new waxy "rubber-look".  I usually love creams and jelly's, but for some reason preferred the rubber look on all of these.

Here is a comparison between a shiny and a dull Taint.

Illamasqua - Vice
2 coats

This could use a third coat if you are not a fan of visible nail line.  Also, if you plan to wear this color, it may be necessary to purchase a whip.

Vice does look slightly different in different lighting situations.  More vampy in low light.

Illamasqua - Kink
2 coats

*Random thought* ...
When you were in high school and someone wore green, did you guys used to say they were horny?  Weird, I'm still trying to figure that one out.

Here is another shot showing a shiny and rubber finish.

Now that you have purchased a whip, you may want to invest in rubber thigh high boots to complete the look ... and get KINK-AY!

And the most difficult one to photograph for last ...

Illamasqua - Faux Pas
1 coat

I had to doctor this photo a bit to get the color right because my camera likes to make it blue.  Although the color is described as a blue violet, it's definitely on the purple side, as shown.

I think the best thing about these polishes are the names and the rubber finish.  I never thought I would like the satin/suede/rubber finish, but since these are very basic colors it gives them a little something extra.

And because I can't help myself ...

Look, a Taint on my coffee cup!

*The polishes in this post were provided by Illamasqua's PR department ... thank you!*

It's like WOAH!

You know what makes me go WOAH?  Freaking Illamasqua.  These people are always super creative and push limits; how can you not appreciate that?  The Toxic Nature Collection launches online next week, Thursday March 10, and at counters in the UK Thursday March 17; it's guaranteed to do this  ...  O_o

Seriously look at these promo pic's (click to make bigger)

Okay my first thought was Night of the Living ... Spring Edition

BUT now I'm convinced Tim Burton had a hand in this.

Either way, they put such interesting components together ...
Death + Rot + Pastels = Win

Not to sound corny, but it's really neat.

Now on to the good stuff ... Nail POLISH!

Here are the descriptions from Illamasqua with my comments in red.

Nail Varnish - £13.50

Leave your mark with an unexpected claw. Choose from either toxic pastels or unmissable neons. Hardwearing and chip-resistant.

Purity – Peach (how sweet and spring-y)

Bacterium – Pearlescent Ash Ochre (nerd geek wants!)

Radium – Acidic Lime Shimmer (come on, anything from the periodic table is game on  by sheer principle)

Stagnate – Grey Mauve (my mom always tells me  to stay away from stagnant water cause I'll get legionnaires, this is a good substitute.)

Gamma – Neon orange (another bright spring color to even out the rot.)

You can view the colors better here.

Oh and apparently there's a "claw".   Here is what Illamasqua says about that :

Toxic Claw - £35.00

Illamasqua are proud to present the second collaboration with visionary manicurist, Mike Pocock.  A beautifully presented set of two false thumb nails, these have been designed and individually hand made by Mike. ‘The mutated aesthetic of the nail was inspired by the corrupted hues present in the Toxic Nature collection’. (sounds intense ... not so sure it rocks my boat, but hey Never say Never ... like Justin
Bieber.)

If you're feeling lucky, add your favorite products from the new collection to the waiting list at illamasqua.com and you could be one of the first to try the collection!  Three winners will be selected March 9th.

I'm so there!
