Wave hello to my top coat flap

Remember China Glaze - Flying Dragon (neon)? Yea me too it was puurdy.  The original post can be found here.

I think we can all agree that it is NOT a good idea to mix Seche Vite with certain polishes OR put it on dry nail polish, especially day (or two) old dried polish.

Well guess what ... curiosity killed the cat ... or in this case the flying dragon ...

I had a big ol' chip on the side and then it started peeling, so I gave it a tug.

Pretty sweet flap! LOOK the suede and shiny look on one nail!
Mani DEAD.

Oh yea, see the damage at the nail free edge?
That's called "buffing out a peel".  Sometimes I just can't take down nail length, it hurts ... emotionally.

  1. Weird! I've never had the top coat peel off but I've actually had the whole polish peel off like that!

  2. I know right?! Maybe thats when the whole basecoat incompatibility with SV comes into play. Then that skank peels off in one whole sheet, polish and all!

  3. I'm with you on the buffing out a peel part! Anything to prevent filing off some lenght...

I've never used Seche Vite on dry polish (I followz the rules) and now I never will.
    You're so brave, lol!!

  5. Boooo! I wonder if it's a SV thing or a neon thing? Either way...SUCK!

  6. Oh no, that's bad.. :S Maybe SV can't handle the matte surface underneath? Very, very strange!

  9. @Sloveig Buffer's Unite!

@ChaosButterfly - lol, I must entice you further to come over to the dark side, hmmmm

@Megan and @AmyGrace I wonder?! I'll have to try this again with a cream finish when I get bored with the color. Muhahahaha don't you love sabotaging a mani sometimes just to move on ... not that I was trying to do it here, but at least I found one more way to add to the list.

    @Ash-Lilly - oh, you like my flap! ;) I don't know where I'm going with this ... :p

@Silence is Loud - yea man, but the list of reasons for it keeps growing.

  10. I never knew that could happen with SV. I will remember not to put it on dry polish even though I never have. The last picture looks cool though! LOL

  11. ... unless ... you want to sabotage subconsciously ... MUAHAHAHAH

on a side note, the spell checker tried to change muahahahah to brouhaha which I really like, but it doesn't fit in the sentence :( ... I will save this word in my memory bank for future use :p

  12. Oh my gosh! that happens to me sometimes with my Sally Hansen Acrylic top coat too!! such a bummer though, because it's the only one thick enough to smooth out glitters and nail art completely! Issues!!

  14. I just jumped on the bandwagon and bought Seche Vite Fast Dry Top Coat and I HATE it! It leaves my nails tacky and one bump and there is a dent in the polish! Even HOURS after applying the SV! My HOLY GRAIL is the Sally Hansen Dry Fast Top Coat in the red bottle! LOVE that stuff! Gets thick kinda fast, but my nails are like a rock 1 minute after I apply it! I LOVE IT!
